So, I started a new Indelible Grace cd today and got basic tracks for the 1st 2 songs. Cason Cooley, Will Sayles, and Ian Fitchuk were on hand to help out. We are trying to vary the process a bit and track with a smaller group than the full band we have used for basic tracks on the last 2 cds. We are working at Paul Moak and Will Sayles’ place (The Smoakstack) and it is an awesome place with tons of cool guitars and amps - and an incredible collection of cool old keyboards too. No release date is set yet, nor do we have a title. But we have a great collection of new/old hymns and I am having a ball getting to work on them. I’m not readly to give out detials about who will sing and what songs we are doing - still firming all of that up as well. But thought you all would want to know that work has finally begun
Grace and peace - Kevin
Do you accept songs from others? Or are you sticking to songwriters in your community?
Just wondering. I’ve written some new tunes to hymns in Gadsby’s Hymns and Our Own Hymn-book.
We usually get songs from our community, because we see this really as a community project - but we have done a few songs over the years that have emerged from other ruf groups and gotten spread pretty wide within the ruf community. I think if you post about places to share new hymn tunes you’ve written on our discussion board you’ll get some good ideas on how to get your music out there where people can hear it and use it. Thanks!
Kevin, I imagine this is alot of work, but I would love for you to take a look at this ancient hymn by Paul Speratus called “Salvation Unto Us Has Come”. It articulates Law and Gospel so well.
kevin - been getting updates from a few of the people involved, namely irwin and msmith. hope the process continues to go well. looking forward to hearing what you guys come up with, as usual.
Any idea on when it will be finished? Or hope to be finished?
I’m hoping this one will be quicker than the others which all took 11 months to complete. But I only have 4-5 more lead vocals, all the backing vocals and a few more overdubs to do - so I think we are on track for a fall release.
